For most of us it is difficult to understand and empathise with people involved in disasters. Sometimes the event is too far away for us to feel any connection. Sometimes the scale of the disaster is so big that we can’t imagine how to help. Yet, it is important to try and empathise with those affected and imagine how it would feel to experience such an event and cope with the aftermath and long-term recovery.
